As per product documentation, DNS resolution to be Enabled for VPC which will only work if we use AWS provided DNS (i.e. ec2.internal).
Since customer environment(like Dev, QA, Prod) we are using clients own DNS, the VPC setup needs to be changed as per below recommendation:
- DNS resolution and DNS hostnames Disabled
- DHCP options set with the customer's domain name attached to VPC
- VMs from the VPC should able to reach to on-premise Active Directory
Kindly check the product documentation and add required information to clarify any future situations with using customer's domain as DNS
